Natalia Gould

Natalia Gould has been playing different forms of Balinese traditional music in Melbourne for almost 20 years, and has also learnt and performed Indonesian music from other regions of Indonesia, including Gamelan Degung from West Java, Cirebon Gamelan from West Java (with Putra Panji Asmara), and Talempong from West Sumatra (in collaboration with Adrian Sheriff and Ron Reeves).

Natalia began playing Balinese gamelan - specifically Gong Kebyar - in Melbourne in 2007, joining Made Hood's ensemble at Monash University. Shortly thereafter she joined the ensemble of Mahindra Bali - the peak Balinese community group in Melbourne - and performed with them for many years.

Nowadays, Natalia performs with Gamelan DanAnda and has been involved with them since their inception. She has performed Gong Kebyar, Gender Wayang and Gamelan Angklung with them. She also joined Adrian Sheriff's Selonding group Gamelan Sapta Nugraha in 2023.

Natalia was raised in Indonesia to a West Sumatran mother and an Anglo-Australian father, and has held a lifelong interest in Indonesian traditional music.

Natalia has been involved with the board since Gamelan DanAnda's inception, at various times in the past performing in the capacity of secretary and vice president.
