STYLE & TECHNIQUE classes use a selection of traditional repertoire to explore the various playing techniques of Balinese Gamelan instruments. Always with an underlying focus on cooperative musicianship, the classes gradually introduce students to the full range of rhythmic patterns, compositional concepts, and performative contexts which make Balinese Gamelan such a unique and fascinating art form.

REPERTOIRE CLUB class moves quickly through a number of lengthy compositions, often played at a fast pace, and is best approached after gaining some familiarity with the essential techniques and styles of Gamelan. Listening to the MP3s of this group's playlist before joining is highly recommended, and quite enjoyable!
